Small progress. Repeated.

Make your training log more useful than a collection of numbers.

Keep a useful training log.

Write down the exercise, weight, sets, reps, and a quick note about effort. Those details make it easier to compare sessions and decide what to do next.

Change one thing at a time.

As a practical starting point, repeat a manageable session before increasing the challenge. Adding a rep or a small amount of load is one way to progress. Keep movement quality and your ability to recover in the picture.

Make consistency the foundation.

ACSM’s 2026 guidance emphasizes consistent resistance training and tailoring it to the person’s goals. The useful plan is one you can follow, track, and adjust over time.
